Hello! My name is Debbie Davis, and I am passionate about creating and sewing. My mom and grandmother taught me to sew at an early age and I began sewing my own clothes and accessories by the 6th grade. I was fascinated with the sewing process and enjoyed “tweaking” the patterns. It gave me a true sense of freedom and independence!
My sewing passion continued for 15 years and I expanded into home furnishings and caught the attention of a local interior decorator. She hired me to design custom window treatments and furniture slip covers. While I loved this opportunity to expand and learn more, I eventually went back to sewing clothing and accessories which were my true passions.
A key factor that drove me to pattern making was I could not find a lot of bag sewing patterns that felt modern, were easy for me to understand, and resulted in a professional look. So I began making my own sewing patterns. The positive feedback I received from my bag patterns led me to offer my sewing patterns to others who may have similar issues like I had, and this was the beginning of Merge Patterns.
